How to fit a yale lock to a wooden door.
Measure the diameter of the holes currently cut out of your door so you can select a new door lock that fits those dimensions.
This is not a step by step instructional video.
The best lock for a wooden door is a lock that meets the requirement of bs3621 the type of lock fitted can be a night latch mortice deadlock or mortice sash lock.
For a mortice deadlock prices start at between 25 and 35 and for a bs3621 approved night latch expect to pay a price starting from around 45.
Position a mortice deadlock about halfway up the door and fit a night latch on your front door one third of the way down.

A non tested night latch can be used for access but it must be supported with a tested lock so you would have two locks on the door.

When possible fit two locks on your front door both to bs3621 standard.
The price of a new door lock supply only is likely to start at around 15 25 for a basic cylinder lock for a upvc door.
If you only fit one lock go for an automatically dead locking night latch made to bs3621.
Take care to measure carefully as matching the size can be especially problematic in older homes.
